A Holiday in the Sewing Room from Quilt Paint Create

I made good use of the holiday by spending most of it in the sewing room. We don’t have family close by, which makes holidays free days with better food.

I’ve wanted to rearrange my sewing room for a while now. Long story short, the sewing table my husband and I built to fit both my sewing and storage needs has not been in my sewing room for years. It’s now back in the sewing room, and a dresser and the portable table are gone. It gives me much needed storage and more open space.

It also ...

An Amazing Gift from Wedding Dress Blue

Christmas presents are nice, but sometimes you get something that is truly amazing. This is one of those times.

My third son, currently stationed in Poland with the US Army, sent this. We opened early at his request.

Mouth wide open astonishment. I LOVE it!

It still smells of fresh-cut wood and finish, some of my favorite smells, and has a place of honor in, what I now must call, the Quilting Cave (fka Sewing Room, or Laundry Room).

ps–If you are interested, here is the link to the company: 3D Woodworker. Highly recommended.

Finished the Green on to the Yellow from Quilts....etc.

Moving right along now on this last row of blocks for the Carpenter’s Wheel.  The green block turned out great – I’m glad I grabbed that color off the shelf from the left overs from the toddler quilt for this one. I added it to the bottom row on the floor – keep in mind […]

Going Through Scraps from Quilts....etc.

Most of my fabric is not in yardage it is from a collection of scraps saved from the last 30 years or so with additions of some yardage and fat quarters added several times a year mainly through sales but not in every instance.  Doing the Rainbow Scrap Challenge over the previous 3 years or […]

July from Rose Prairie Quilts and Farm

Well, July came and went. It was a whirlwind of a month.

It has  been somewhat busy. We had family from Utah and California come to visit this month so I spent a lot of time sitting around playing cards, talking, going out to eat, you get the picture.  I was able to get a lot of knitting done, because I can do that while visiting, but not as much sewing as I was hoping.

The one big thing that I did accomplish for the month of July was getting the studio finished. The last thing done this month was ...

Time to de-clutter the Studio from Rose Prairie Quilts and Farm

It's long over due, that is to de-clutter and organize my studio.

My room is a spare bedroom, 12 x 10 and I have 2 very nice windows which give me plenty of natural light. Very lucky in so many ways. Sure have come a long way from sewing on the coffee table back in the 70's.

In the room I have all my sewing stuff except the fabric. I hate to admit it but I have way too much fabric and that is something I need to go through..... but that's for another time. Right now ...

My Multi-Craftual Room from Thread Head

Multi-craftual seems to be a word I keep hearing recently, and it sure applies to me - I quilt, spin, weave, knit, crochet, dye, embroider, sew clothes, do stained glass, make jewelry, bead, paint... (you'll see I am a collector too, but I don't think that can be called a "craft"). I recently saw a video of someone's multi-craftual room and wanted to share mine. The rest of my home isn't like this, but this is my creative space.
We have lived in six different houses and this is the second time I have been lucky enough ...

New Projects from Mama Spark's World

I made a quilt for my son but didn't get it back until we returned from NC.  He had a golden retriever that passed away.  She was our dog first then when he moved out he took her with him..  That dog just adored him!  So when she passed away I decided to include a nod to her in his quilt.  I used Holiday Homies by Tula Pink.  It has a golden with glasses.  I used the pattern called Comfort and

Multifarious Wednesday from Humble Quilts

I'm still all over the board trying to get my sewing room back in order!

Multifarious:
many and of various types.
"multifarious activities"

Yep great description.

Short video of the craziness in my sewing room!

Wrong season, but I bought this from Michelle! I need to finish it, but it is so cute and well done!

My new friend, Marsha, bought a pack of fabrics but didn't like this beauty! I was the lucky recipient. Thank you Marsha!

I've been making a little quilt in the Cheri Payne group. I finally finished it and gave it a ...

Messy Table from Quilts....etc.

I am back to a messy table after experimenting with Star Blocks to add to my Snail’s Trail quilt – I didn’t like it so I will not be making it – but must say that if someone has not started to make one and thinking of it – consider your colors first – it […]

A Little of This and That from Quilts....etc.

A light rainy day kept me mostly inside yesterday – I did get out to take a few photos of the flowers that are still blooming but other than that I was cleaning the sewing machine – it was in need.  Although this photo doesn’t actually show all that I pulled out it does show […]

Yesterday Was a Busy Day from Quilts....etc.

Yesterday really was too busy but I got a lot done.  Started with getting the flannel quilt ready for the frame, then running to Hobby Lobby to find a container to store all of my thread more neatly then what I was doing with it (3 boxes plus a small cardboard box) – so now […]

More on Hexies and Sewing Room from Quilts....etc.

I am trying to get the sewing room straightened out and more things up higher instead of lower (not going to happen, too much stuff!) and I got a little bit done but not a lot.  I forgot to take a before photo – but I had the canvas boxes in the next photo stacked […]

Sewing Room from Quilts....etc.

Well after I moved everything around on my tables on Saturday I thought I better try the new arrangement out to make sure it would work – it didn’t!!  I was very unhappy with it and put everything back where it was. Why you might ask – I wasn’t thinking of how warm the desk […]

Rearranging Things from Quilts....etc.

With the extra supports up on the shelves to hold my Accuquilt system (all the dies) it was time to figure out how to rearrange my tables so that I could keep my Go Big out all the time and not keep folding it up and putting it behind my sewing machine – this machine […]

Vintage Camper Sewing Machine Cover from Alamosa Quilter

I had these in 2020 in turquoise and they sold out quickly. The fabric company decided to offer it again, but changed the turquoise to red for the re-release. Below is a photo of the original one that I made up to cover one of the Bernina 930 machines I have in the classroom at my shop.

Sewing Machine Cover Turquoise

Unfortunately, the turquoise color way is no longer available, but the red color way shown below just arrived.

Sewing Machine Cover Red

As you can see, it's a pre-printed panel with the instructions printed right on the fabric. All you have to do is cut it ...
